I am so sorry! I didn't even think about where you might live. I meant my time. And six to eight is when I'm busy, so after eight my time which is in about eight hours. Not knowing where you are, will you be awake?
Don't worry, I will. So if you available, does the time we talk now will be the same time we talked two days ago? In my time, we talk at 9:30 P.M. In eight hours from now, it will be 9:30 again. Just want to be sure.
It depends. I have a standing RPG game on Saturdays which can end at almost any time between 2 and 6 and since it's at my sister's, I don't always leave until hours later, so maybe aim for 8 my time, which I guess would be around the same time as the last time. And remind me close to that time, because things are going to be crazy the next few days.
Hi there. Sorry if you didn't think myname changes to the page were appropriate. I can assure you that I though because it noted in the sourcebook that it was combustion. I didn't mean to cause problems. So I just wanted to apologise. I was just trying to make it more accurate in my opinion. So if you write to me and tell me what you don't want me to change I won't. Anyway I hope I can still help you editing on this wiki. I have tried to make valuable contributions.
Hi. I'm sorry about all that. At one point I explained the reason why I used that name rather than others for this site. I have been trying to figure out how to explain things to you for the last two days, but before I say anything else I want to tell you that I really appreciate you help, even if there are a couple things that I am at least temporarily putting a hault to. You are moving too fast for me to think. Again, I really do appreciate you, I'm just a little bit on overload.
Before I go further into various things, I would like to ask if you have read the rules of this wikia. This were created, because I want people involved, but I also want people on the same page. If you haven't read it, here is the link.
I want you on this site. I need someone who is interested in the powers, since my interest will always be in the characters and the storylines over any other part of the series.
Thank you so much for your interest in helping make this site more of what it needs to be, more complete.
I'll answer your questions once I know for sure if you have read the rules or not, but in the mean time, I have a question of my own. Did you make those gifs? Because those are awesome. I especially like the one with Piper freezing the raindrops in issue two.
Hi there. Sorry for moving so quickly I just wanted to try and update the stuff on the wikia given were in the middle of Season 10 and there are new issues coming out. I also wanted to write to you for a couple of days but was unsure about what to say.
I have read the rules of the wikia but I think I may not have understood correctly. I will re-read them.
I did make the gifs. I am able to upload lots of photos and gifs easily but my coding I only started recently so I am a little behind with learning how to properly write pages.
You are right that we are well into the season and need to get it updated here. If you noticed the sister wikias on here, I run all of those as well and have been trying to go through all of Zenescope's comics over the years trying to find what characters first appeared where so that I can make pages for all of them and I plan to do this with powers, locations, and objects as well. At the moment I am almost to the beginning of the Charmed comics, but characters for those should be pretty much figured out at least for a while. I'll still double check everything, because I'm bound to have missed things. I set a lot of really big projects for myself and tend to stretch myself thin, so having help on this wikia (or any of the others) would be great.
If the rules are unclear, please let me know what is unclear and we'll see if I can't find a better way to word them so that people can understand them. It just seems like it would be better all around if the rules can be understood.
A little quick thing about images. I don't care about the dimentions of the image as long as it is at least as big as the place that it needs to fit (so profile pics need to be at least 300px wide and most others need to be at least 140px wide and 140px high, though not necessarily square, just at least those sizes), but the images does need to have just that image with no border. As in no images with multiple panels (excluding gifs which should only have multiple panels on different parts of the gif if that makes any sense) other than official previews from Zenescope (this includes places like ComiXology where they show previews of the first couple of pages). And make sure to get rid of any borders around them, so if you are making a gif, this will mean that the images have to be the same size and shape as each other to avoid borders. And I really love the gifs, so I hope that you will do that.
I won't enforce this (other than with covers and preview pages), but please try to make the names of the images in some way identify what the images is. I prefer pngs to jpgs, but, again, other than covers and preview pages (I think just those) I won't be enforcing that, just stating a preference.
If I delete an image, most of the time it will be because there is a better quality version of the same image on the site and I will try to place that other image in the same part of a page.
Oh, I know that you are mostly working on power pages, but please do not make pages for any of the characters that Tyler is turning into. Since the characters aren't actually there, I think it would make more sense to add those characters to the miscellaneous characters page with a note about Tyler turning into them and a little bit about what happened and then information about what happened on Tyler's page. As best I can tell, it's still Tyler. He's just being controled by that old one. It's never actually the other characters.
Thank you, again, for your interest in helping out on this site. I really appreciate it.
Sorry for not responding sooner. I am going to be unable to contribute to anything other than this wikia as I have my own to manage. However, do really enjoy working on The Charmed Comics Wikia. I will have more time to help with your other wikias in the summer. Nevertheless, I am not sure what I can do to help.
I can help with anything you require on this wikia. I completely understand not adding those characters separately but I think it would be better to put them all under a page named Heremus as they are born from him. I can help with whatever you require. In addition, if you want I can help create a newer wordmark for this wikia as well as some other ideas I have regarding infobox designs and ordering the homepage.
Just let me know what you want help with and I will help in anyway I can. After all this is your wikia and I just want to try and instill your vision on to the pages.
The watermark is the image in the top left corner, right? If so, absolutely make a new one. I want it to say either "The Charmed Comics" or just "Charmed Comics," and I don't want it to be busy (what I have there is probably too busy, but it was my first attempt at one of those), but otherwise I don't think I'm picky on it. I made it using a modified piece of a cover, since that was easier to get the wording in the right font or something like the right font. I'm not sure if you can update it, so if you can't, just upload it and I'll update it.
I do want to start up the contests on the front page, again, so if you have some "nominations," you'd like to make, please do so. So far I'm the only one that votes other than in the polls and that's not what I want. I'd especially like to see some things from season ten for the next round. And if you have a suggestion for the next poll question, post it here along with potential answers.
I think you're ideas are great! I would love to help more but I am slightly busy at the moment so I won't be able to help much. Do you know if Season 11 will be coming out straight after Season 10 or a little while later?
I don't know whether you will disagree but I think there needs to be different infoboxes for different items and different races.
As of yet there is no confirmation that there will be a season eleven. Considering the wait between season nine and ten and the general wait period between storylines put out by Zenescope, I would say if there is another season it will be at least a year between seasons and that's only if another season comes.
And what would be the difference between these different infoboxes? I've seen a lot of different potential difference and so far I haven't seen any that I like. I'm willing to listen to your ideas, though. Please, include links to examples.
Hi there, do you not want me to add powers to specific pages? I just thought it was an important part of the story. Anyway, I won't edit further until you tell me what you want done to those pages.
In regards to the infoboxes, I thought that it would make them better if they aren't collapsable. Colours should be different for different infoboxes. I like the format and colours of those found on the charmed.wikia but I not am suggesting we copy them but use similar styles. I think infoboxes sum up a character and that's why I feel it would be better if they were not collapsable.
I have been trying to decide the best way to respond to this and this is not going to be a short reply, because there are a lot of topics that need to be addressed. Please do not make any more edits until you have taken the time to read this. I will try to compromise where I can, but this is not going to be an easy conversation. It is however, necessary if we are not to be working at cross-purposes. And since I want you on this wikia as a contributor, it is best if we are not at cross-purposes.
As is previously stated in the rules, comics are a visual media and thus it is the images that are the most valuable. This means there cannot be too many images on here. If you want to represent a scene, use one image, preferably one that can do double or triple duty as a character image for that issue or maybe a power images as well.
I love you gifs, but they are going to need to be cleaned up. Get rid of all borders, make the images the same size and shape and make sure they are from the same scene. There is nothing currently in the rules about gifs, because there were not something I thought about, but there is something about the images should look and about how many images from one issue on one topic you should have. Gifs use up the entire allotment.
On that topic the only time you should ever have more than two images of a character, power, object, or location from one issue is if:
That character is using more than two powers and the images are showcasing the power.
The power is used by more than two characters and it is showing multiple users of the power.
The object drastically changes appearance.
The characters is background in a location images.
This it the only place in the entire comic series were that character, power, object, or location is ever seen. Excess images should be removed if they show up, again. And even then don't use all images of them unless there is only one.
The only reason I have as many images as I do is because Zenescope changes artists so often (not just here, but with all of their comics), and I think we should showcase the talent of the artists who work on the comics. Otherwise I would want even fewer images.
There are a lot images on this site which were kind of dumped here and never used for anything. I have left them up in case the person wanted to use them on their user page, however, I will not be doing that any long. If there is no specific reason for posting an image and it has not be used somewhere within a day, it may be subject to deletion. Images that do not meet the standards set in the rules will also be deleted. This includes images that have been altered in some way other than just being cut. This includes alternate colors, speech boxes removed (except when exempted in the rules), and borders around images (including the ones found by looking at the comics in an online comic reader).
I prefer pngs (mostly, because it's easier to remember if everything is the same), but other than the images on issue pages, I do not make an issue of this. The images on comic issue pages have a very specific naming system and should all follow that including being pngs.
Powers seem to be your main interest just as characters are mine, so let's talk about them next. First, it should go without saying that if the power is not seen being used in the comics, it should not have a page and if it not even mentioned it should not be on this site. If it is only mentioned, it belongs on the page, Powers Mentioned But Not Seen, with only information known from the comics. That includes description of what it does. If we don't know what the power is from what is in the comics, then we don't put it there. For anything on this page all we know is what is in the comics. The exception is when there is a canon name for the powers that is not mentioned in the comics. Fan made names, no matter how popular, do not count.
That brings us to the names of pages. If a character, power, object, or location has both a canon name and nickname, such as in the case of Prue Halliwell and Piper's "exploding" power, the nickname is used. If there is only a canon name or nickname, such as is the case with Piper Halliwell and her "freezing" power, the canon name or nickname is used. If there is no canon name or nickname for something, then a short description in plain English is to be used. For example if we were to make a single page for Piper's power then it would be "Manipulate Molecules" or "Molecule Manipulation" not "Molecular Manipulation."
As to where descriptions should be and this is all descriptions, not just descriptions of powers. They should be on the page for that topic. You would describe Paige on a page about orbing, so why would you describe orbing on a page about Paige. And the only place the powers should be in a list on a character's page should be in the infobox. Otherwise, they should all come up in the prose (unless the character lost the powers prior to the comics and has not gotten them back), then they should only be in the infobox and indicated that they are former powers.
All lists should be collapsible to as small an area as possible. They may default to open, but if they do that needs to be consistent across all pages.
If you want to emphasize something, use italics except where noted in the rules.
If a power is "Advance ..." then it should be described on the page that it is an advanced form of. A redirect page should be made using the name "Advanced ..." leading to the section of the page that talks about that part of the power, so that anyone looking for that can easily find it.
I noticed that you made a list of powers. While that is a good idea, I was stunned by the sheer number of powers on it and despite all of the Charmed I have watched and read, I hadn't heard of at least half of them. I counted them and there were 120 powers listed there. At the time there had been 38 issues. Do you have instances of each of these powers and the names for them from the comics? Please include references when you make pages for them, since powers not in the comics are obviously not allowed here. And make sure any powers that are in limited use are collected together on the Miscellaneous Powers page.
I noticed that you tend to capitalize power names along with words like whitelighter and elder. These words should not be capitalized. Please correct this.
Do not copy anything from another site, including any other wikias, word for word. I have noticed this with you as I have with other people in the past. This is absolutely not allowed. If you want to post something based off someone else's work on another wikia, reword it until it is yours. If I find massive amounts of content added to pages in very short amounts of time, I do a search. If I find results, I flag the page or sometimes change it right then. Someone put a lot of work into what they wrote. Their work shouldn't be stolen. I know someone who had their work on a wikia not only copied and pasted elsewhere, but the elsewhere was a book for sale on Amazon.
Finally, infoboxes. When I first made this wikia, I looked at infoboxes and I couldn't find anything I liked and so I started learning the code. Over the last five years, I have learned what I like and one of those things is the ability to only see things when I want to see them on a page. Because of this I started looking into how to make things collapsible. They are not exactly what I want, but they are a lot closer than what I started with. The infoboxes on the Charmed wikia have some things going for them, but I don't like how they go on and on and on.
However, I can look into a compromise there. Since it is possible to make the collapsible infoboxes default to opened or closed, I can look into making the design closer to the ones on the Charmed wiki, defaulted open, but still collapsible.
As to colors, I prefer the colors to stick with the blue and purple of the site. The grey I saw in one of them could work too, but I don't want any bright or super dark colors. I have a feeling you wanted a lot more colors than that, but if you would like subtle differences there are a lot of blues and purples to work with. Again, I asked for links. This was so that I knew exactly what you meant and not a general idea. There are a huge number of pages on the Charmed wikia and they have a large variety of infoboxes.
Any changes made here to the infoboxes will be made to its sister wikia (of which there are thirteen), since I want them all to look like sister wikias.
If there is anything on this that you don't understand, let me know and be specific. Quote if you need to. If you do not tell me you do not understand something, I will assume that you do understand it and react accordingly.
If you wish to debate something, please, let me know what and why. This does not mean I will change my mind, but if you have a reasonable argument that I can agree with, I will.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I think I covered everything, but if something else comes up we can cross that road then. I am sorry that this is so long, but there was a lot that needed to be said. I hope that when all is said an done you still want to be here and help out. Thank you for all of your interest here.
Yep! I found out a few days ago, but I had not seen that announcement before. One of the sites I visit tends to be the first person (or nearly the first) outside of those directly connected to the comics to notice them and start letting people know. He has a lot of sources related to the Charmed comics. I sometimes wonder if they (Zenescope) contact him directly, although in this case I think someone tweeted him about it.
I have no idea how to do announcements, although I guess I should up date the main page here. I am very excited about this. We are finally getting more Charmed. Season ten is a go!
Wow, that thing is old. I've changed a lot of what I do with infoboxes since then, but let me see what I can do about that. Do you want a parameter to pick an image or do you want a parameter with a set image?
Replace the word "Released" in the above example in both places it appears with another word you would like to use to set your parameters. Replace "Released Date" with the text you want to use as the category.
You can get all the code information you need from there. I'm going to take a look at the code and see if there is anything in there that I want to include in my own infoboxes. My infoboxes are a major piece of trial and error, cut and paste, but I already see something in the code I want to try and use. And there is one thing I really want to find a way to do that I haven't yet. Maybe I will learn how from this infobox.
Paul is pretty great. I do know that he isn't supposed to accept any ideas from fans, so if he said he was going to consider he already was considering it. I hope so, because Kevin is my favorite elder and one of my favorite innocents. That said, I'm very glad Kevin wasn't in the earlier storyline with the elders, because he'd probably have ended up dead and I don't want that.
Oh, trust me. Paul is well aware of my opinions on many things Charmed related. One time I sent him a tweet with a list of the characters I wanted most to show up in the comics. This was before issue seven came out. It took about five or six tweets to get them all in and that was the short list. Kevin was on said list. Since then we have gotten Victor in one episode, Darryl in several, and a flashback of Andy in another. I think that's it from my list, since Tyler appeared before I made that list, we haven't seen the twenties cousins, Kevin, Ava, or any number of other ones I can't think of off the top of my head that I would love to see, again, mostly one time guests that I loved.
Hey I need help with this other wiki.... Since your like template master, I was wondering can you help we add this template from [] to []? Because on the Charmed Wiki it looks great, but mines in busted...!
I think it should work now. There was a template that had a different value on your wikia then it did on this one. I don't know the reason for the value in the template, so I made another template with a similar name.
The template that was different was T. The new one I made was T1. If you don't need the current T template, I would suggest replacing the T template with the T1 template I created, but make sure you change the code on the Power template back if you do.
Thanks!!! And I think maybe we should, delete The Charmed Ones pages.... It just full of empty links and colors. The Category page it good... It's just I thought that since the Charmed Wikia had one, we should too.
The first thing you need to do is reread the rules, since you don't seem to know them yet. After that, what you need to do is the same thing as before, The Charmed Ones page. You need to get rid of any bolding that isn't for centered section titles. You need to clean up you links. A lot of the red links on that page actually have pages, so you need to find the correct names for those pages and put those in instead of what is there. Get rid of any links to things that aren't at least mentioned in the comics. Is the Triad mentioned in The Sourcebook? If it's not unlink that and just leave plain text there. If it is, leave it as is.
Fix the infobox template for that page. While it isn't giving me a headache like it was before, the colors are still way to bright. Make sure to make it collapsible. There are several examples of collapsible templates on this site. If you plan on making templates for this site, you had better learn how to make your templates collapsible. You also need to make it bigger since the templates for this site are supposed to be 300px including the images on them. I'd change the template name too, since Charmed Ones is decidely not a species, but that's not an immediate concern.
You need to change you images on the page so that they do not include the added by part.
Amazingly, you actually need more info on the events involving the Charmed Ones on the show. All I saw was info on season eight. I may have missed additional information, because I only did a quick look through. I've mostly been trying to figure out how to make your character template collapsible without loosing lines or other basic structure. From what I recall, the section on season eight is too long, but you need to have a highlights of the other seven seasons. You don't need to make sure you have something from every season, just make sure you find major events and sum them up. Don't deal too much in the details, we are just trying to get a good overview of the series in connection with events dealing with all three sister (whichever set) as a group working together magically. Remember, in your own words only.
There's probably more, but those are the things that stuck out. There are also probably things that are very good, such as the infobox with the girls and the powers that I already mentioned I liked. Right now, though I am trying to give you things that need to be fixed, because you need to get this page to the point where it is acceptable.
It's not done. You didn't unbold things. You didn't fix the template. You didn't add any of the info I mentioned (at least not as far I can see). You didn't do anything with the images. In fact the only thing it looks like you did was fix the links and alter the color of the template. It is still difficult to read the information on the template and it is not collapsible. I am not kidding about this. If you are going to make templates, you need to learn how to make them collapsible. And you need to know what size to make them. No, you may not work on the homepage at this point in time. You were also told only to work on that page. I see you created two additional pages, one of which already has a page for it. I told you, if something is in the comics that you made a link to, leave it as is. That means leave the link, not make a page.
Thank you for fixing the links, but that dies not mean the page is done.
I do want the color altered, but I want the letters to be easily readable as well and most of them aren't. And it is possible to collapse it. It took me a week to figure out how to collapse the other one you made and keep the same basic structure, so it is possible that it is more than a few minutes of editing. In fact it almost always takes a long time for me to figure out how to do new things to a template or to do old things to a new template.
And that isn't the only change that needs to be made to the template.
What do you mean you checked before you added the pages? You aren't supposed to add pages right now. You were supposed to find the pages that were there (Demons by the way) and fix the links so that they lead to them and you were supposed to leave the others that legitimately should have pages as red links for now. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear to you, but I'm pretty sure I was clear when I said not to work on any other pages until you have this fixed and that includes not making new pages.
Hey! I know you said to work on the template and "The Charmed Ones" page... But I saw Pipers page in made a new Template. And while I'm fixing the page, I'm gonna need you to work on Morality Bites Back all the way to the last comic history entry. I can really use the help. Because the template I made will help users know what pages to edit!
One last thing, for the template I'm gonna need a gif from the show: it should be one if the smiling or nodding.
No. Not unless you mean to put it on Holly's page. Images on pages for characters, issues, objects, powers, and locations are only allowed to be from the comics. Images from the show are allowed on the actors' page or on the page the shows comparisons between the characters look on the show and in the comics.
I have tested a lot of things and when I tell you to notdo something it is because I have either already considered it, or tried it myself, and decided against it or because I don't like the way it looks. If you want to see an example of that take a look at the history on Paige's page. She's usually my testing ground.
And apparently you miss the fact that I do tell you I like things you do and I don't say no to everything you do. And there are things you do that I am not sure I like that I allow, because I want to give you a chance and because I want to give them a chance to grow on me.
You may want to be an admin, but I told you right off the bat that you have to have proven record of both edits (which you are growing) and show that you can both follow and enforce the rules. I am not seeing that. I need to see that.
There are rules all over the site, but I will try to make a centralized location for them. If I tell you specifically not to do something on a page, consider it under the category of a rule. If you are uncertain about something ask before you do.
And don't worry about Piper's page until after you have fixed The Charmed Ones page that you made. As to an example page, I will stick to Paige as the example.
You may think that, but this site, that is how emphasis will be handled. You have explained your side. I have explained mine. I have the final say at present. When this site has all the relevant information filled in about the comics, I am willing to revisit the issue, but for now, the bolding is only to be used for centered section titles. Italics are to be used for all other emphasis.
Since you insist we need an example page I will focus my energies on Phoebe's page. I have gotten through The Sourcebook with her and that alone took about a week. Other issues are much less time consuming, because there is a lot less text to sort through. It cannot be done by tomorrow, I will try to show consistant progress.
I don't like having to tell you over and over again to stick with The Charmed Ones until you have it fixed. If I have to keep telling you, then I am going to have to take action.
Just to be clear, my issue isn't with the changes you made on Piper's page, it's with the fact that you created a page that needs a lot of work, including something done about the words overlapping into the template, and you said you will fix it, but you haven't yet.
Sorry. I didn't mean that as a way to tell you to keep working on it. I am glad you are. I just was saying, since you said you didn't know what was causing it, I was telling what I thought it might be. It was meant as an attemp to be helpful, but I will leave you to it.
I see you fixed the overlap problem. Great job with that!
That looks nice. I like it with the pictures better than what was there before. You could have left Prue's Astral Projection on the list, just leave it without a link since it hasn't been in the comics (pity, because I like that power). Up to you though.
I am working on getting at least one episode summary added to Phoebe's page before I go to bed tonight.
There's a reason I haven't finished going through all of the issues for every character. I'm way too detail oriented and it takes me forever. I should be up for a while.
And actually, I realized that Astral Porjection may not be shown in the comics, but it is mentioned in The Sourcebook, so I'm making a Powers Mentioned But Not Seen page (because I apparently forgot to make that page for some reason) and I'm putting it on their. I already made a redirect page for it.
Not quite what I was thinking you were doing, but it looks good. It's just huge. If you can make it collapsible so that it defaults to being collapsed and only the title piece shows unless you uncollapse it, I think it would work better. And the writing is a little difficult to read in the main part, because it is so close to the color of the background, maybe a pale violet? Other than that it looks good and I love the image choices you came up with.
I finished updating Phoebe's page with the next issue on the list. I will probably want to divide them up into paragraphs at some point, but right now I'm going to keep it the way it is. Since your templates mention images, I thought I would let you know some of what I plan to do about images and I'll add some in to Phoebe's. The plan is to take the images in the gallery and put them into the comic section in alternating sides. I'm leaving the gallery there, because it has a different purpose. I may change my mind later on, but for now I'm leaving it.
That's a hard one, because not every method for collapsing things works for every template. So far what I have found on that is what is seen in the Charmed Comic Character Infobox. I know that on another site I am on the guy who runs it made templates similar to yours collapse, but I've tried looking at his code and it gave me a headache, because he has template within template within template, so it will take me a while to look and see if I can find the specific code for that part of it and see if I can make it work here. In the meantime, see if the character template I mentioned above is of any help. And you might try the code I used on most of the issue pages to collapse the lists. I don't think it works with templates, but I may not have found the right way to make it work.
If you can't figure it out by Sunday, I'll take a look and see if I can figure it out.
Tell you what. After you finish fixing The Charmed Ones page, you can work on Piper's page and make it how you think it looks good and I will fix up Phoebe's page the way I want it and we'll see what we end up with and what we can use from each page. I'll see what I can do about making your template (the character one) collapsible, unless you figure it out first. When we are both done, we will use them to create a "page template" (although not a literal one since I haven't the first clue how, I've tired and failed a few times) that is a mixture of the two.
Oh, and I better not see the character template showing up on any more pages until I say it is ready to be used.
In addition I will need references from the show or the comics for the names you used for Paige's parents. If you have such references, great, because I would love to call them something other than Mr. and Mrs. Matthews, but so far as I know they never were named.
I checked the easiest source for that and could not find the names Mark, Helen, or even Matthews in the script for "Charmed Agaig: Part 2". Was it written on something? If you know the scene, please let me know because there is desperate need for a screenshot or a quote to be posted somewhere. I checked the conversation with her Uncle Dave and her parents names weren't mentioned, so it must not be in that scene. Any ideas?
I've looked on the Charmed Wikia. You are going to have to be more specific as to where they claim it is from "Charmed Again: Part 2", because I can't find it. It definitely isn't on their page anywhere.
