Some demons are vanquished with the use of potions.
On the Show[]
Potions were frequently made to vanquish demons or to immulate powers. Some times they were stockpiled, so that if they needed a common potion they had it right there. Piper, being the cook in the family, was usually the one making the potions as well, though in later years Paige made her fair share as well.

Potions caused a lot of trouble for Piper when some mysteriously ended up on the stove and mixed and created vines that wrapped around Piper and Melinda.

There are some potions sitting by the Book of Shadows when Phoebe arrives at the manor from the park. She and Piper each pick one up while Piper and Paige explain their theory about what's going on.
