Empathy is the power to channel the emotions of others. Phoebe has also used it to temporarily use the powers of those near her and to reflect back emotions on others. In alternate timeline, Phoebe reflected back the emotions of Cal Greene and killed him. Some fans have come up with the term Pathokinesis to describe this advancement. However, this term was not used in the comics and it was implied both in the comics and in conversation with author Paul Ruditis that this was simply an advancement of her empathy power, not a new power.

Description[]

Empathy was first introduced when Prue switched powers with a man. It turned out that an Empath had switched powers with him to keep him from hurting people. Those who are not meant to have the powers of empathy cannot handle them.

Later, Phoebe's emotions started acting up when she came into her own power of empathy. Unlike Prue, she was able to learn to control it, because she was meant to have the power.

Innocents Lost[]

Having only gotten back her power of levitation in the previous issue, Phoebe wasn't expecting to get back her empathy so quickly, but when she met Romeo and Juliet, it came back full force, showing her how much the couple loved each other.

Morality Bites Back[]

Phoebe used this power unsuccesssfully to try and determine if Cal Greene was evil. Later, she went with her sisters to try and stop him from hurting her boss and friend, Elise Rothman. When they caught him running out after having attacked Elise, Phoebe found out exactly what had happened in the alternate reality she and her sisters had seen. She realized that she hadn't gained a new power, she'd instead learned to send back emotions to someone and killed Cal with empathy. Knowing the end result and knowing that despite everything, he was still a human villain, she realized she had to find another way, but it opened a new doorway for her in respect to using her powers.

The Charmed Offensive[]

Phoebe tried to use her empathy to send Neena's powers back onto her, but the emotions were too much for Phoebe and she stopped.

Cupid's Harrow[]

While they were trying to fix the problems created by Coop using his powers on a member of his family, Phoebe went to talk to Mitchell Coopersmith. She used her powers to guide her in the conversation.
